Motheread/Fatheread

Both the director and the assistant director are now trained Motheread/Fatheread teachers. Sponsored by the Connecticut Humanities Council, this program works with parents to enhance their literacy skills by reading children’s books. The parents practice effective reading techniques so they can go home and read to their children. After reading each book, the participants discuss the main ideas of the story and plan projects to do with their children. The ideas in the books are also used to discuss parenting issues.
